Royal Orient Train Tour
Day 01: Delhi
The Royal Orient train tour starts from Delhi, the capital of India. Get ready to explore the best of Indian heritage and culture as we take you to two of the most fascinating states of India, Rajasthan and Gujarat! The Royal Orient train begins its journey from the Delhi Cantonment Railway Station at around 15:00 hrs. Enjoy your evening tea and dinner and stay on board the luxury train, overnight! Before boarding the Royal orient train you have the option of a short sightseeing tour of Delhi. Delhi is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich cities of India. Delhi boasts of a great cultural heritage and history, as it has been a witness to rise and fall of many empires, through ages. Major tourist attractions at Delhi are the Red fort, the Jama Masjid, the Old fort, Raj Ghat, the India Gate, the parliament House, the Qutub Minar, the tomb of Humayun, the Akshardham temple, the Lotus temple and the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Day 2: Chittorgarh/Udaipur
The first destination of the Royal Orient train is Chittorgarh. The Royal Orient train arrives at Udaipur early in the morning. Chittorgarh is an important and historical city of Rajasthan. Chittorgarh was once the capital of former Rajput state, Mewar. It is synonymous with Rajput pride, romance and spirit. The main attraction at Chittorgarh is the Chittor fort, located atop a hill. The Chittorgarh fort is a depiction of Rajput valor, bravery, culture and values. The fort stands on a 240-hectares site on an 180m high hill, which rises rapidly from the plains below. Apart from its historical importance, Chittorgarh has a number of temples, including the Kalika Mata Temple. Another important attraction at Chittorgarh is the tower of Victory, Vijay Stambh. It was built by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over Mohammed Khilji.
You will be taken for a morning tour of the Chittorgarh fort. It is followed by breakfast in the train and then onward journey to Udaipur. Udaipur is yet another beautiful and heritage city of Rajasthan. Udaipur offers a combination of beauty and heritage. The main attractions at Udaipur are the City Palace, Lake Pichola, Sahelion Ki Bari, Fateh Sagar Lake, Jagdish temple etc. The Royal Orient train reaches Udaipur at noon and you will head to hotel for your lunch. Lunch follows an afternoon tour of Udaipur city. After the sightseeing tour of Udaipur city, you will return back to the Royal Orient train and leave for Mehsana. Have your dinner on board and stay on the Royal Orient luxury train, overnight.
Day 3: Junagarh/Veraval
The third day of the Royal Orient train tour takes you to Junagarh and Veraval. Junagarh is an important historical place. The main attractions at Junagarh are the Ashokan Rock edicts (3rd Century BC), Darbar Hall Museum and Mausoleum of Nawab Mahabat Khanji. The next destination on the Royal Orient train tour is Veraval. The town of Veraval is located 6 km from Somnath. It is a part of Junagarh District of Gujarat. Veraval was once a fortified port town of the royal family of Junagarh. From Veraval you will be taken for a tour of Somnath. The main attraction at Somnath is the famous Shiva Temple on the Arabian Sea.
Day 4- Sasangir/Dilwara
The Royal Orient departs early morning from Veraval for Sasan Gir. Sasangir is well known for the Gir National Park. Gir National Park is the only remaining habitat of the Asiatic lion. Have early breakfast on board the Royal Orient train and then leave for a tour of the Gir Lion sanctuary, where you can spot the Asiatic Lion. After exploring the Gir National Park, the Royal Orient train heads towards Dilwara. The main attractions at Dilwara are the St. Paul's Church, Diu fort and the Ahmedpur-Mandvi beach. Have your dinner on board and stay on the Royal Orient luxury train, overnight.
Day 5: Palitana/ Sarkhej
On the fifth day the tour, the Royal Orient train takes you to Palitana and Sarkhej. Have your breakfast on board the Royal Orient and then move on to explore the famous Jain temples at Shatrunjaya Hills. The beautiful Jain temples of Palitana were constructed in the North Indian style of temple architecture. After visiting Palitana's beautiful Jain temples, the Royal Orient tour takes you to an amazing destination, known for its unique village life. It is the Vishalla village, located in Sarkhej. It is believed that in Vishalla village, traditions and customs are kept intact and not influenced by outside culture. From Sarkhej you will be driven to Ahmedabad by bus.
Day 6: Ahmedabad
From Sarkhej the passengers will be taken to Ahmedabad by bus. Ahmedabad is one of the most important cities of Gujarat. It is also a big industrial center. After breakfast you will be taken for a sightseeing tour of Ahmedabad. The main tourist attractions at Ahmedabad are Adalaj Stepwell, Gandhi Ashram, Calico museum of Textiles and Sidi Sayyad's Mosque. Besides the sightseeing, you can also do some shopping for local artifacts and souvenirs. After exploring Ahmedabad, the Royal Orient Train moves towards its next destination, Jaipur. Jaipur, also called the Pink City, is the capital of Rajasthan.
Day 7 : Jaipur
On the seventh day of the tour, the Royal Orient train reaches Jaipur, the Pink City. You will be served your breakfast on board and after getting down the train a sightseeing tour of the Pink city will begin. Jaipur is one of the most beautiful cities of India and a great center of Indian culture and heritage. The main tourist attractions at Jaipur are the Hawa Mahal, the Jantar Mantar, the City Palace, the Birla temple, the Jaigarh fort, the Nahargarh fort and the Amber fort.
Hawa Mahal
The Hawa Mahal is a five-storied building, with number of small windows and screens, with arched roofs. The Hawa Mahal offers and amazing view of Jaipur city. Sawai Jai Singh II built the Jantar Mantar (astronomical observatory). Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur was a learned man and an astronomer who was deeply interested in the workings of the celestial bodies. The name 'Jantar Mantar' comes from Sanskrit's 'Yantra Mantra' meaning instruments and formulae.
City Palace
The City Palace was also built by Sawai Jai Singh II. The architecture of the City Palace is a synthesis of Rajasthani and Mughal styles. The City Palace Complex comprises of many structures, courtyards, gardens and buildings. You will begin the tour of Jaipur by taking an elephant ride, while ascending the Amber fort. Thereafter tour of other places follows. After the city tour of Jaipur, you will return back to the Royal orient train with unforgettable memories of lifetime. Have dinner on board as the train travels back to Delhi.
Day 08
The Royal Orient train returns back to Delhi after exploring two of the most fascinating states of India, Rajasthan and Gujarat and you get back with cherished memories.
